Nathan Lyons, photographer, curator and educator

It is with sadness that NYFA learns of the passing of photographer Nathan Lyons last night in Rochester, NY at the age of 86. Nathan served as NYFA’s chair from 1976 to 1993 and was a founding trustee.

His photographic work is part of collections worldwide and he started the Society for Photographic Education. Lyons was the associate director at the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York and a visiting professor at MIT. In 2000 he received the Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography for his distinguished career.
