Anyone with an internet connection can register and participate in this online workshop on Tuesday, January 15.
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to offer an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to participate in its upcoming “Art Law: Contractual Terms” workshop, which will feature the expertise of lawyer John Wierzbicki. The workshop will take place online on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 6:30 PM-8:00 PM EST.
This workshop seeks to empower artists by guiding them through the general meaning of terms that they will likely see in contracts throughout their practice. Topics include copyright and other ownership rights, “reasonable efforts” clauses, risk of loss, indemnification, termination, and morality clauses. Wierzbicki is a lawyer in the publishing industry who has conducted workshops on copyright, contracts, and negotiation to artists and art students on both coasts. He has presented at several NYSCA/NYFA Artist As Entrepreneur Programs in New York State and at NYFA’s Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program: Oakland. An entertaining and evocative speaker, Wierzbicki makes complicated concepts comprehensible.
