Save The Date: #ArtistHotline Returns June 15

Join our Artist Professional Development Day on the Third Wednesday of every month. Mark your calendar for the next discussion: Wednesday, June 15, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM.

Thank you to everyone who participated in May’s #ArtistHotline! We love watching this monthly initiative grow into a shared platform of knowledge around the business of art.

During this month’s chat, we discussed a variety of professional development topics, such as:

  • Balancing careers in the arts and other fields, how can they influence each other?
  • Finding a sustainable/new business model for your art career or project;
  • How to highlight transferrable skills as an artist when applying for positions outside the art world;
  • Less expensive, but flexible artist website design options;
  • Taking early retirement as an artist;
  • In person and online networking, including your social media strategy;
  • Resources for finding no-free or low-cost open calls;
  • First steps on getting an exhibition and building relationships with gallerists.

Inspired by the NYFA Source Hotline, #ArtistHotline is an initiative dedicated to creating an ongoing online conversation around the professional side of artistic practice. #ArtistHotline occurs on the third Wednesday of each month on Twitter. Our goal is to help artists discover the resources needed, online and off, to develop sustainable careers.

This initiative is supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation.
