Thessia Machado (Fellow in Computer Arts ‘05)
Sound II: Mikhail Iliatov, Thessia Machado opens this weekend at Cindy Rucker Gallery.

Mary Tooley Parker (Fellow in Folk/Traditional Arts ‘15)
Parker’s work was selected to be included in the 4th Annual Blue Mountain Gallery Juried Exhibition.

Michelle Brody (Fellow in Architecture/Environmental Structures ‘00)
Brody is joining NYC Guide and Historian JoAnn Fynke of NYCTours.us for Discovering New York Underfoot, a unique tour of New York City manhole covers. Register for the tour here.

Dread Scott (Fellow in Sculpture ‘01, Performance Art/Multidisciplinary Work ‘05, Interdisciplinary Work ‘12)
Scott will be taking part in the panel “ART AND ACTIVISM TODAY – WHAT ARTISTS DO TO PROVOKE CHANGE” with fellow artists Sue Coe and Mel Chin.

Laura Shechter (Fellow in Painting ‘15)
Shechter is this month’s featured artist at Harmon-Meek Modern Gallery. Visit the gallery to see her new urban paintings.

Lorna Bieber (Sponsored Project)
Attend the reception and gallery talk of Bieber’s solo show Forces of Nature at The Hyde Collection in Glen Falls, NY. Forces of Nature will be on view through May 14, 2017. For more details about the exhibition, click here.

Lisa Bielawa (Fellow in Music Composition ‘96, ‘02 and Music/Sound ‘16)
Music vocalist and sound composer Bielawa was featured in The New York Times’ Arts & Leisure story Women Are Making Opera. And It’s Not Easy. Additionally, her episodic opera project Vireo is in its last stages of creation. Click here to get a behind-the-scenes look at Vireo.

NYFA Congratulates:

Larry Krone (Fellow in Crafts ‘09)
Krone’s work Then and Now (Circles: Coreopsis Moonbeams, Irises, Poppies, Forest Road) is going to be acquired as part of the permanent collection at RISD Museum. He also designed the cover for Lauren Hilger’s new poetry book Lady be Good. Click here to see Krone’s Lady Be Good cover and for details on where to purchase.

Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for more events with past and present NYFA Affiliated Artists. The NYSCA/NYFAArtist Fellowship Program awards $7,000 grants to individual artists living and working in New York State. The 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship award cycle is currently open, with an application deadline of Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:59 PM (EST).
